With reference to your letter (45373/1916) of the
28th September relative to Meesre. Vogelstein and Company of New York,
I am directed by the Minister of Munitions to state, for the
information of Mr. Secretary Bonar Law, that he understands that the
general question of the treatment of this firm is under the
consideration of the Foreign Office, and that he would prefer to
leave it to that Department to decide what conditions should be
imposed before any consignments are released to the firm.
I am to add that, in addition to the Russian Committee,
the Belgian and the Italian Delegates on the Commission Internationale
have now stated that their Governments have no contracts with
Messrs. Vogelstein while, as regards the French Delegate, no reply
has yet been received.
